For folks who need auto and some other types of parts. Go visit the Rock
Auto web site. You can use it to look up parts by number or by year,
make, model menu If you look near the left you can usually see the OEM
part number as well as the number used by the after market company.

Now go to your parts store of choice online site and punch in that after
market number as a cross.

Another thing is to open a commercial account with the part store(s).
Advance, Oreiley, Autozone, Federated, NAPA all offer commercial
accounts online parts access.
You basically become "the guy behind the counter" with full access to
search and ordering of parts right form your computer/tablet/phone. You
can see current inventories from the local stores and the warehouses.
So even if it's 1am you can go online and order the parts you need.
Depending on how you set it up and how the store handles it, they will
deliver the parts to your door as well.

Now one thing I do just to be nice and keep the accounts open because
most do have some type of minimum, is to order my parts and add some
extra shop supplies or whatever I'm low on the shelf. Like washer fluid,
coolant, hand cleaner. Plus I usually toss the delivery driver a tip of
some type. Even if it's just coffee and a donut. Why? One of the local
stores has a driver who lives out my way, he will grab whatever came in
after the normal deliveries are done and drop it off on his way home.
That can mean I get a project together and back in use that night rather
than waiting.
