Here in the desert we don't have as big an issue with moisture on the
points but I have to wonder if one of those dessicant packs would be of
value or use. For that matter, I'm not too certain what makes those little
packs work...

Plan B would be a rub-on silver plating if it's compatible. Silver will
oxidize but remain conductive. I've used something like this for increasing
electrical conductivitiy:
