[AT] JD 430 update

Thanks Bo. I will pull the rocker arm so all valves are closed if I decide to go to this idea. In fact I would try it before I pulled the head to try other methods. The only time I tried grease in the past it actually split a head gasket. So you definitely have to be careful.

In general I want to hold off on pulling the head or oil pan right now. I did check the valves to ensure they were not stuck. Another reason why I don't want to pull the head or oil pan is that I simply think it's premature. Supposedly this tractor ran as recently as two years ago. So there's part of me that has to believe it cannot be stuck as tight as it seems.

Splitting it would be a pain too; so I cannot get any kind of a tool on the flywheel. About the only way I have to generate safe leverage is something with the wheels or PTO. I like the 4 x 4 idea because it won't generate a lot force or shock loads but it will generate constant force.

Congrats on the 60 Dean.   Sounds like a great tractor.   I'm hoping this tractor will prove to be that solid too.   I do wish I had a flywheel I could put a bar on. (-;
