If you're cutting holes the sizes used in instrument panels, they make tools for that, like the link below. ?The metal shop where I went to college used theirs a lot, but I don't think it ever needed sharpening. ?There is another kind that "punches" instead of cuts, but the one I saw was for smaller holes. ?I went to the College of the Ozarks and worked as a mechanic. ?We had lots of surplus equipment, old equipment and would re-fab things. ??We turned Buda tugs into "Engines" for tour trains with a faux steam appearing skin. ?The rear fenders and body was all cast iron, about 4" thick, just for ballast. ?They would pull :-)

Zosharp.com is in the business. Can't tell from the website if their work
applies to both wood cutting and metal cutting saws but there's a query
button to ask.

Speaking of hole hole sharpening...

All the local sharpening businesses are closing up shop. There are still a couple household types around (scissors, kitchen knifes, etc). And I can get chain saw chains sharpened too if I am so inclined. But the Ag/industrial places have all gone contract(no walk ins) or they have closed their doors. All my lap sharpening has to be mailed off. No one does hedge trimmers anymore either.

Am I just not looking hard enough? Or has that been everyone else's experience too?

I imagine its like a lot of things now, easier to replace than repair. I
take care of ordering all the tooling in the machine shop I work at. I
had to go thru several re-grinding shops before I could find one that
could do decent quality work at affordable prices. I found one in New
Jersey that does fantastic work, but they wanted the same money as I
could replace with new tooling. I finally found a shop in Wisconsin that
does work as good of quality as new, for reasonable prices. All the
local shops just kind of phased out it seems, quality was my issue with
them.

Anytime you want metal cutting tools, go to either MSC or Travers. Their
no-name made in USA stuff should be good enough quality for the average
home/farm shop. I find that McMaster, Grainger, Fastenall, big-box
stores, various welding supply house--all tend to be overpriced.

I guess we are lucky. At least with wood working tools.

Of course I do most of my own sharpening. I have had some carbide blades
done.
