If I may interject here.  I have had trouble with my pressure washer as you
describe. I learned the aluminum housing doesn't like water left in it over
a long period of time. It corrodes the valves and their seats and the
pressure can't build.

There is a special oil to run thru the pump before it is stored away. It
makes all the difference. At least it does with mine.
