[AT] IH 2504

Last week I returned to Oklahoma cabin with a rebuilt cylinder head for the IH2504. Old cylinder head had 1 pushrod out of place on #1, badly burn valve on #2, and valve lash issues on #3 and #4. Installation was a challenge because my brain was not fully engaged and I installed head before installing thermostat housing, which required removal of fan assembly and water pump to get bottom bolt in the thermostats housing. Doing all this with loader in place also slowed things down.
Got head installed and it fired right up. Ran better than when I bought it.
Used it a little and took down 3 more dead trees. Noticed a little oil. Found out that I had just busted another hose. This was the mate to the one I burst last year. Crimp fitting on hose is part of a bent tube welded to a manifold block. Cut it off and luckily there was enough straight tube to allow use of a tubing crimp fitting. Also fortunate that Fluid Specialties in Tulsa had 20 of these fittings in stock. They and there sister company Aberdeen Dynamics are among the top hydraulic suppliers in the nation!
Got the fitting installed, and a new hose installed and now things are working fine.

After this used the tractor to move a few hundred feet of old pipe neighbor wanted to get rid of. It is not real straight, but will be good for some projects that can use short pieces.

It was progressively getting worse. It acted like it was running out of fuel. Would set a minute, and then restart for a little, and die again. I thought it was a fuel issue, but gravity seldom fails and I had took settling bowl and card apart and all looked acceptable.

I need to remember to get my old oversized plug sockets - plugs look larger than the normal 13/16" hex size. Only needed to use these special sockets once every 10 or 15 years, so I hope I can find them.
