My high school class had a reunion at Flint Hill a few years ago and
being a native I do know the owners and the family. In fact we took a
Vacation Bible School group for a visit last summer - the vineyard not
the winery. I also have wondered why some of the older iron has not
worked more in those vineyards. One former vineyard is now a solar farm.
I guess the government was farmed out on the grapevines so the property
was sold and now has a decent sized array of solar panels. Before being
a vineyard it was a private airstrip (guess no money in that).

Yes from my house I can travel to at least a dozen wineries within 15
miles. Flint Hill is about halfway between Spencer and myself. My
pastor's husband runs the vineyard and winery operation for Shelton
Vineyards near Dobson, NC.

Spencer have you been to Divine Llama winery? Another neat little
operation with llamas in a pasture .

Those tractors are on the other end of Flint Hill Road from the winery.
I'll be by there again Monday so I'll stop and at least get some pics.

It's one of the smaller vineyards but produces a pretty nice chambourcin(spelling??) grape and some nice wine. They have other varietals too. I can't remember if they produce the wine themselves or hire it out to the vintners at some of the larger wineries in the area.
