[AT] Phoenix Arizona Old Iron

The Railway Museum is pretty decent; the rolling stock gets moved from time
to time and they run the Baldwin every so often.
My son still claims the steam engine as "his" from when we went there
weekly on our bikes and I was a member. His interests have led away from
trains lately though.

In hindsight if you had been near Williams this weekend they were running
steam to the Canyon on Grand Canyon Railway. We couldn't do that and be
ready for the track meet Sunday or we would have been there. Williams and
Flag like to talk about the whole Route 66 thing. Further west is Kingman
and Oatman but they're a hike from Phx.

If airplanes interest you, there is the CAF aircraft museum in Mesa (I made
some parts for the B-17) and the Pima Air and Space museum in Tucson (got
to put hands on a SR-71). The fighter museum got moved to Seattle a number
of years back (I wired on the FW-190 in that fleet too).

I don't know you can still do it but I toured the showroom at Empire
Caterpillar a few years back when they first opened it. Absolutely loved
the conference room with the glass floor (over a Cat 10) and the clear
conference table with the fuel injection system parts inside it.

Not sure if this helps.
