[AT] Late JD B Camshaft Removal

I made a little more progress on our basket case '51 B John Deere,
which I affectionately nickenamed "Madness." (When I was little it
was also known as the "Putter Putter" but that's another story.)
Anyhow the pistons are stuck, I'm working on taking the block and
pistons out as one unit. It looks like the left hand connecting rod
is going to contact the camshaft before it comes out. I've been
reading in the JD service manual, and it looks like that if I take the
camshaft bearing housing loose, I can waggle the shaft enough to get
the camshaft gear out of mesh from the crank, and turn it so I can
take out the capscrews holding the gear to the shaft. Then once the
gear is off the camshaft, I can slip the shaft out. The instructions
are not really clear. Am I missing anything? Any tips or tricks?

Thanks,
Al
