Thanks.  I took off the relief valve, it seemed stuck, I shot it with PB Blaster and got it lose.  I suspect I should let the hose run at the shop before I hook up the pressure washer, it's often rust colored for awhile from sitting in the pipe.  From what I research on this unit, the pumps were not reliable, no more parts available, but a replacement pump kit designed to fit.

    I have one that the relief valve sticks on and is sometimes slow to react.  You might try pouring a little vinegar through the pump and letting it soak.  Most likely just limed-up from water setting in the pump.

There is a bypass valve that is stuck no doubt.  Mine would stick when trigger released and going into bypass when trigger pulled it would not pump until I idled down the engine you have to take it apart and grease the valve.  Look online for a diagram of the pump to locate the bypass valve.  Mine had a little cover over it secured with a push in type rivet didn’t look like it could be removed but just popped out.

I "rescued" a pressure washer from my FIL, it looked like it had been used very little, parked in a shed then half buried by a ground hog.  It has a vertical Honda engine and after replacing a chewed fuel line and the pressure hose, it worked great.  The  oil was still clear blue :-)
Fast forward about a year, I got it out to use it and it doesn't make pressure, the hose pressure will put water thru the pump, but it doesn't do any more when the engine runs.  It has a plastic housing over the pump and I didn't have time to tear it down.  Any ideas?  I suspect it is a direct mount pump, so I can't imagine any way it's disconnected from the engine.  It hasn't been cold since I used it either!  My high school age son had one of my pumps freeze in the back of his truck during a 15 mile drive, at least that's the story I got :-)
