[AT] Weird broken crank(not the 430!)

Spencer,

I have seem brakes that look like this on some shafts.

If my memory is correct it was on some shafts that were driven by new electronic controlled engines. They used to work fine on older engines that had mechanical controls. Theory is that the faster response of electronic fuel controls caused torque spikes that loaded the shaft differently.
