Because you were just starting the brush hog I doubt you did any damage;
however the IH mechanic said some people would plug their corn chopper
and with a IH 1066 tractor try to unplug by opening it full throttle and
putting the pto in gear, said they would burn the clutches out in 5
seconds. Completely different from what you were doing. It makes me very
mad that you can't trust anyone anymore to do their job. A year ago I
had my JD 4255 in for a bad transmission leak ( the shaft where the 3
point draft sensing goes into the trans. was leaking so bad that after
sitting a couple of months I had to add oil just to get it to the
dealer. When it was fixed and I went to get it I asked if the fluid
level had been checked. I was assured it had been but they would make
sure. I was nervous because there was no oil listed on the bill. Long
story short, the transmission was low 5 gallons of oil. What if I had
figured they were paid to do the job and I had went to the field for the
day.
