[AT] D10/D12

Yes the D series tractors have the serial number located same as the CA.
Up through the D-15 anyway. I can't say with certainty about the others.
All of the blocks I'm familiar with have a casting number cast into them
in the mold. I've never seen a serial number anywhere on an AC block.
I'm not saying there aren't any, just none that I know about.

I always wanted to put a D-17 motor in a D-14 but it would require longer
frame rails and Hood parts. I guess maybe the D-17 rails and hood might
work added to a D-15 (which is wider than a D-14) but I don't know.

My mistake, they must have stamped the D10/12 engine numbers like the CA
tractors - on the left rear flange of the engine.
Could it be you've only seen replacement blocks or those with numbers
hidden under paint?
I've heard of transplanting into a D17 from Gleaners (model E maybe), that
would be the bigger 226 engine (same family as the WC/WD/WD45/D17/170). You
do need to put the tractor governor on it as part of the switch.
