Darrell, sure makes a good looking, self-contained, exhibit; and ready for
use (if necessary) in short order.
Dad fattened out fifty or sixty yearlings every winter, so we ran a lot of
corn through one of those old Letz(?) grinders. Our half dozen milk cows
sure enjoyed that feed also; never had to go out in the pasture and bring
them in as they were there waiting. Herb(GA)

Al – Do you have a manual for it? Somewhere I have an electronic copy of a
4-E manual. If you need it I will try to find it and forward it to you.
We used my 4-E to grind some chicken feed last fall. It worked like a
charm. You will really enjoy it.
Here’s a picture of mine at a show last summer.

For some time I have wanted an IH hammer mill/feed grinder. They made
the model 4E, which was made for the Cub and Super A tractors (mainly
Cub) and is scarce as hens teeth. A few years ago a friend sold me a
nice #6 IH mill, which is twice as big at least as the 4E. A Super A
will run a 6, but it was really more for the H/M. It's also heavy and
a bit of a handful to move--I could haul it with my Super A and fast
hitch IH carry-all but it was a load.

So, I was browsing craigslist last Sunday and I spied this little
booger. I was SURE it had to be sold but lo and behold it was still
available. I took a day off and went and got it Friday, it was over 4
hrs. away in Fredericksburg, VA. It was full of rats nests and
stuff, there's one rust hole on the blower pipe on the side of the
fan, but that's an easy fix. It has a tiny screen in it, holes are
about 3/32, so it will just about make flour. I hope to find or have
some screens made so I can grind ear corn with it. It'll be a lot
easier to take to shows, I need a 4-5" wide belt for it but other than
that looks like I can grease it and go.

It's been so long, I can't remember if the list will do attachments.
We'll see if this works.....

Al
