Your supply hose on your washing machine has such a filter in it and it
will fit a standard garden hose.  Take a look at it and go to the hardware
store and find one.  It's not real fine mesh but it will get the big stuff.
The one on the washing machine might be on the end where the hose attaches
to the faucet or it might be on the inlet to the washer but unless someone
has removed it, it's there.

I'm using several of these filters on my drip and sprinkler runs and
they work well.  Available at Lowes for about $11, up to 80 PSI working
pressure, 150 mesh cleanable screen, MPT ends.  In case my image doesn't
