Ok, Thanks Steve.    Now that I have found a few dealers in my general 
area I've noticed that they are all small outfits I never heard
of and some have names like XYZ landscaping which makes
me think they aren't retail businesses.

You have BUT you didn't know it. RedMax are Husqvarna owned.
They bought Zenoah (RedMax) back in 2006 and renamed that division 
"Generic Light" Basically they didn't want to lose the sales in Japan so 
they gave the new division semi-autonomy.
