Yes, my dad had a rake like that on his D4 also.  The brush puller attached to an excavator bucket that we have been discussing is only used above ground to grab the tree trunk and pull it out of the ground without disturbing the soil.

When I built the brush rake for my D4 I made the shanks 12" apart so it would not pick up as much dirt. It will take out large brush but leaves the small stuff behind. I need a combination of brush rake, bush hog and moldboard plow to control the coyote brush we have here. It will sprout from the roots.
