Even some of the simple grinders such as a Letz could grind ear corn. 
Pretty much it was filler from my understanding. We used to raise a 
little bit of ear corn to sell for squirrel feeders. The excess and 
damaged was sold to a farmer to run through a feed grinder for winter 
feed on his cows, don't know what else he blended with it.
