BTDT, Cecil.  With a super-sharp wood chisel, rather than an angle grinder.  Thank your lucky stars that you didn't sever the tendon.  Your wound will heal OK on its own.  If you cut the tendon, it's a long and very expensive operation to repair it with years of rehab.  Months later when the surgeon cut off the cast I had been living in for much of the winter and it was determined that I DID have movement in my fingers again, I asked him if I would be able to play the piano?  He said, "I don't know why not?" I said, "Good.  Because I couldn't play it before?"  I think he was tempted to physically throw me out of his office.
