The hard drive probably won't need to be replaced, but it will need to be wiped and a clean OS installed.  Welcome to Windows, the Yugo of the software world.....  

Want to try an anti-Windows OS?  Try this Zorin OS - Home, it has pretty much the look and feel of Windows, free Office Suite and access to lots of other free software.  If you have a computer that is slow on Windows 7, it will probably run this like a gazelle :-)
