Steve you and Spencer know far more about this than I do
but I'm going to say what I often do when I have a problem
with my computer that I don't understand. My first move
is to run a registry repair utility. It doesn't hurt anything
and sometimes helps.

How about going into device manager. Uninstall the wireless network
adapter, Reboot, Then let it reinstall it using defaults?
If using ethernet do the same.
Those should wipe the odd settings and let you connect up.
Now if you changed setting in the router itself you could also go in it
and change those settings to default. If you changed the password in it
and don't remember it ???
