[AT] Lawn tractor

This is on and off topic, I have a JD 318 18 hp Onan engine after 
running about 1/2 hour cutting grass it starts to surge engine keeps 
opening throttle up and down. Does not stop running any suggestions 
never had any thing like this before, not sure of year purchased last 
summer late. Next can one of the good computer people give me a link i 
can find the serial number listing for years.
