Ralph,  is there any chance that just after the freeze up you can get in
the field and harvest it before it gets snow covered?  I don't know a thing
about Flax and don't understand farming up your way at all.  I just know
that a crop left in the field until spring here better be winter wheat! 
Anything
else will be on the ground, molded and sprouting.

Hate to hear you have a crop in the field. We got another 2 inches of rain
today. A lot of people, myself included, were trying to drill wheat in
already muddy ground. I got done last night, lots have not and may not get
it planted at all, it will take a good 10 days for this to dry up. Today it
was incredibly warm because the humidity was so high. We actually had so
much fog this afternoon you had trouble seeing in places on the drive
home--and it wasn't even dark yet! The cold weather is headed our way this
weekend, and wouldn't you know it there is a chance of "showers"--hope it
doesn't turn to ice! I have some fertilizer to spread when I can, then it
will be off to the shop to see what mischief I can create!

John, that lousy weather came up here from the southwest. A Colorado low
they called it . Blew in this morning with gusts to 100 K (60 mph) all
day. Thankfully only a little bit of snow but the highways got icy from
the freezing rain this morning. So is ugly out there. Ground is frozen
though so that is an improvement. It is saturation city here as usual
with mud and water everywhere right up until freeze up.
Planting and field work is just a dream now. It will be cattle feeding
and snow removal for the next few months here.  That 130 acres of flax
swath still in my field will have to wait to harvest next spring I guess.
