Another thing I've seen recently... the heatsink grease will sometimes dry
out and you need to clean it out and put fresh on it. So the temp program
and cleaning everything are good ideas but keep an eye out for odd stuff.

My software guy roasted one of the processor cores in his laptop because of
the grease (running some long compile times for an embedded linux ARM
core). We regreased it and things ran cooler but it had already been
damaged. new ebay CPU finally fixed it..
