We just received another 5 inches of rain here making it a total of 22
inches of rain this month for Central OK. I might be able to get
across the field in 10 days if it quits today and the forecast is for 5
more days of rain. My wheat is golden and was supposed to be baled 3
weeks ago. Prairie hay is 2 ft tall and still growing. My
Clover.prairie mix is over 2 ft tall.
The only way I can see to get this stuff baled and off the field and
maybe salable is to wrap it in plastic.
Does anyone know where there is a single bale wrapper for a price less
than $6000 ?
I know that is asking a lot, but I only have 240 acres of hay to put
up. And I am not in good enough health to go out doing this on
contract. was thinking I could sell the wrapped stuff to the cattle
farmers and maybe sell the second cutting to the horse people. If it
doesn't get cut It will rot in the field.
Old saying that a dry year will scare you but a wet year will kill you
is true again.
