If you are speaking as to the quality of the brand, they are just as good as
the ones made today. There are better ones out there that employ the use of
advanced coatings and materials. The grinding of the point may have changed
as well as the flute design. All of these advancements are generally geared
toward production machining and have no benefit or do not work well on
simple machines/setups. Large runs permit you to cherry pick special
features and gain time and quality. Some manufacturers have products so use
specific it is only stocked at the factory.

just curious but are the old cleveland and national brand drills as good
as new drills?
