The Detroit was also available in the industrial 440, both wheel and crawler
versions.

Greg,

I suspect you are recalling a JD 435 which had a 2 cycle, 2 cylinder, 2-53,
106 CI, 1.7L Detroit Diesel engine in it. They were made in the 1959 and
1960 model year. They are good pullers but terribly hard on the ears. JD was
experimenting before the Major announcement of the New Generation tractors
in the 1961 Model year.

With my brain cells being what they are anymore I have a question.
Somewhere in my foggy memory, I seem to remember someone saying that at one
time JD had a Detroit Diesel in one of their smaller tractors, perhaps a 2
cylinder. In a way this doesn't seem possible, but on the other hand one
never knows. So, is this real or do I call the doctor on Monday. I tried
looking online but found nothing except modified pulling tractors which in
my opinion don't count.
