[AT] Opinion/ Facebook

Spencer, I take all my pictures at 640-X-480 resolution. Most pictures
come out at between 80 to 95 KB, which is accepted on all sites and emails I
post. Most digital cameras have a setting that gives this resolution. My
Nikon has this setting named "email". I have an online program that resizes
them, but I seldom need to use it. Usually only for profile pictures. Any of
the pictures I have posted on the forum come straight off my memory card
from my camera or from my hard drive. Works for me and would be a good
working starting point for an email list.

                        Gene

As I mentioned before, my biggest concern with ATIS is diluting the
information between different social media, forums and mailing lists. As
best I can tell, we would simply end up with one third of our knowledge
existing on each.

If I could find forum software that would integrate seamlessly with mailing
lists, I would jump all over it. But I don't think Facebook is the answer.
There are just too many people who would refuse to go to Facebook.
Unfortunately many of the same people also refuse to use the forum. Until
then I think the mailing list continues to be the only answer; with the
forum rounding out our abilities to provide pictures.

I could allow pictures on the mailing list, but folks would have to accept
messages that might be upwards of 1 MB in size. If I restrict the size to
something smaller, folks would have to be experts in resizing before
sending. Not sure everyone is up to that nor I'm I comfortable with
everyone's ISPs and mail accounts handling that.

What do you folks think?

Hey Dean: I don't know about narrow fronts vs. wide fronts, but I am sure
Facebook would roll over before a mailing list I am sure. (-:
