Was visiting son, grandson and great grandson and great granddaughter(and families) in Jasper, Indiana area this past weekend.
At times it is hard to realize that I am that old; unfortunately most of the time my bad back continually reminds me that I am at least 80+.
Jasper has a large German Roman Catholic following and also a large Amish community; driving through the countryside is refreshing because ’every square foot of soil’ is maintained. One of the many Amish industries/businesses is a large consignment auction facility; 6:00 p.m. every Friday night. Several thousand people and from couple to half dozen auctioneers, depends on size of that sale. Main bldg is at least 100’ x 100’, then 200’ away is a horse barn of same size. It is Friday night socializing/entertainment for many including several friends of ours fourty miles to the north (where we used to live). “Dinkys” is the name on the big sign out front.
That may be where I finally find a potato digger; they sold one several months ago according to some local farmer who was unloading a disk to be auctioned. Herb(GA)
