Dean & Ron; The same as in central KS; potato fork. However today, many
dictionarys call it a garden fork.
The potato digger I am needing is an approx 24" wide x 9" deep open ended
scoop that raises the dirt a couple inches so a 10' long x 2' wide endless
hurricane fence can get under the loosened dirt and pull it back and up and
vibrates the chain/dirt so anything loose and/or small can fall through the
fence grid. Modest size potatoes and rocks are dropped off the back end of
this fence grid onto the ground, or into boxes, or onto another conveyor.
Older horse drawn models are powered by the two 30" dia metal wheels; newer
3pt models are PTO powered. Herb(GA)

This is what we in NW Iowa and also what Ron Cook in Western Iowa call a
Potato Fork or something very
similar to it.:

Hi Herb:
I also always called them potato diggers too but that won't bring them up
in a search anymore.
:-)
Look for potato rake or hook now.

Are you acquainted with The Cumberland General Store in Crossville TN?
They carry a lot of that sort of stuff. Google will bring them up. I have
not been there for a while now but it was always worth a trip before. It's
just a nice drive through the Smokies from you.
:-)
