My understanding is also that once Ford made the required changes to the 6.0 engines, in owner
vehicles, they have a pretty good track record. But there sure was some owners that had real
problems. I've always had the impression that those that were hauling heavy loads pushing the GVWR
were those that had the most problems. I purchased my 2003 7.3 L Diesel truck after the 2003 6.0 L
engine based trucks were being sold in 2003. The Ford dealer was having trouble selling the 7.3 L
engine versions because they were the old model in 2003 but I heard about the 6.0 issues before I
purchased and elected to buy the 7.3 L version at a heavily discounted price. I was really lucky. I
have received a huge quantity of letters from Ford dealers wanting to buy my truck over the years.
At one time the used 2003 7.3L based truck was selling for over $8,000 more than the 2003 6.0L
version. I don't know what that spread is today. All I know is I've had a trouble free truck so far
for 160,000 plus miles pulling a heavy 5th wheel and heavy equipment trailers loaded with tractors.
Occasionally cross country. "Knock on wood." I have another friend in SO CA who was a big fan of
Ford Trucks but he has switched to Dodge Ram Diesel trucks. He is on his second one after some
troubles with the first. I guess all brands have their issues.

My 2006 Ford 6.0L diesel had 2 injectors and the EGR cooler repair by the previous owner in 2008 at
around 80K miles according to the Oasis report I consulted before buying. I bought it in 2010 with
110K. In 5+ years and 60K miles I have driven I have not done a thing except a rear axle seal.
Has run like a charm ever since I bought it.

Just a data point.....
