We came close to destroying a shop vac years ago. My brother and I had 
just vacuumed up a lot of bees that were nesting in the attic of his 
workshop and becoming a problem. Once in the vacuum I had the brilliant 
idea of just putting the vac hose over a gas container and the fumes 
would kill the bees. I guess it would have worked too but my brain 
finally kicked into gear and realized that the sparks in the vac motor 
could at the very least turn the vac into a blow torch.
