I didn't have anything to contribute to the question posed but I find it interesting that John bought a Massey Ferguson. I JUST BOUGHT ONE TODAY myself. It is a 1982 industrial diesel model 50E with gannon, loader, and scarfier. My Farmall H does not have any working hydraulics so I just use it as a puller. Does great for that though.EdPinon Hills, CA

Hey John, I feel your pain- I sell EQ for The Alamo Group, Alamo AG that includes Rhino and Earthmaster Eq, remember M+W? They are part of us now but we no longer support much of their stuff. Why do I mention this- Value Built Tractor Parts as well as Herschel is part of our group as well- Herschel-Adams tillage parts. A lot of the after-market tractor parts came from Central Tractor,Alamo bought them I'm guessing 10 or more years ago.
I seems like the major line Cos just want to support their current Eq and the rest is going to aftermarket parts- I just bought a Massey Ferguson 65, I can't believe how much cheaper parts are for this tractor vs. my Farmalls before Hy-Tran.

PS- it has been pretty quiet lately, I'm in the market for a Square Baler, if anyone has a 46 or something newer for around 1,000.00 or less, I'm in the market.

I can’t remember when I have seen ANYTHING on the Farmall list so I thought I’d share my latest endeavor into the wonderful world of Hy-Tran and WP bolts.

Our newest tractor is a 1972 454 IH utility. My grandmother bought it new. I think it has around 6000 hrs. Of course when you consider it has had the engine rebuilt a couple times, a couple rear axles replaced, worn out 2-3 sets of tires, whatever shows on the hour meter doesn’t mean much.

It developed a radiator leak this fall. I couldn’t even find a listing anywhere for a new one so I had this one cleaned out and repaired. The brakes on these series are notorious for getting air in them. For once IH used their heads in the engineering dept and used the same master cylinders and equalizers on several models. I ordered 2 aftermarket rebuild kits for the master cylinders and I have a IH rebuild kit on the way for the equalizer. While I have it apart, I’m going to replace the bushings and the pedal shaft. If this doesn’t solve the brake issue, we’ll have to pull the axle housing, not a 5 minute job! Oh yeah, there are some cam bolts that work the equalizer. I’ll probably weld them up and turn them back down. They are pretty hard to find in the parts books. I think I finally found them, at close to $40 each.

I’m still having trouble with the fuel gauge on this tractor, installed an A&I sending unit last year and things are still not right. Unfortunately my service manual does not go into electrical issues, I do believe it references an electrical service manual that I do not have.

I have noticed Case-IH is mighty proud of the parts for this thing! I’m ordering the bushings and a pair of brake springs from McMaster-Carr for less than IH wants for one of the bushings! I’ll try NAPA for a valve cover gasket, It’s not worth the $35 they are asking.

So what 2150 red tractor is in your shop?
