That's right Ralph. It's got to be a full size "3/4 ton" pickup to
get into the exemption category.  From what I've seen the inspections
do very little good.  Most folks keep their vehicles in reasonably good
shape for their own safety and dependability.  The ones that don't find
some way around the law.  There are always crooked inspectors out there
somewhere.

Those are some heavy plates Charlie :-) Auto companies have used that
system for years going right back to the beginning of low emission
equipment for
new vehicles. I think it was around the 3/4 or maybe one ton point where
trucks could have the "low emissions engine". No air pump or catalytic
converter.
