[AT] you've got to be kidding me!

I agree, the side with the throttle linkage should have had a bushing, it
gets all the side load and tends to wear the worst. Maybe that’s why the
really old carbs were made out of cast brass/bronze!

If you drill the old one and put some oilite bronze bushings in it
for the throttle shaft to run in then it will be the way they should
have built it to begin with.... in my opinion anyway. I know the
folks that built our old tractors never thought or intended that they
would last close to a century so it's understandable that they didn't.

Trust me, I won't be chunking the old carb. In the event the one I'm fixing
doesn't work, I'll be boring and sleeving it just as you said!

I got the old one welded today. He looked at it and mumbled something about
some silicone bronze filler rod would be great to use. I just nodded my
head, like I've got an opinion that matters when you're dealing with a
welder that has been at it for over 40 years!

I would love to have the opportunity to humble myself and take a few lessons
from him! He's melted metal together by about any means possible.

No I didn't forget you are a machinist. I just thought my suggestion
sounded better that saying "why the hell don't you just fix it" LOL.
I know you'll figure it out.
