About 15 years for me. So far oral meds to combat the diabetes (well
meds and diet control). BP meds are needed but statins are not. My doc
wanted me on them a few years ago but I resisted. I told him if my
cholesterol become an issue we will have the discussion again but for
now I will not take statins. So far I fit well within guidelines for
healthy people and just in the guidelines for those with diabetes. One
thing I have noticed is my cholesterol rises more with consumption of
carbs than with fats.
