Yeah I know and figured it would be nearly impossible for you
to paint your shop but I figured I'd throw the tip out there
for who ever it might help. It does make a huge difference.

PAINT the inside of a 30 year old farm shop? Are you nuts!? Or are you
volunteering to help me tote everything outside so we could even find the
walls! Actually our shop was built with Celetex insulation and left exposed,
Its silver, almost mirror like. The machine shop I work in is painted
white. Slowly it got dark in there, that’s how we knew we needed to paint it
again. Also, actually cleaning the bulbs and the fixtures makes a huge
difference. Of course in my case, 1/2 the lights no longer work, not bad
bulbs either.

John, having been involved in industrial painting for a few
decades I can tell you that the best way to increase the
light in a shop or warehouse is to paint everything in sight
WHITE. We were hired once to paint the ceilings white
in a big and very dimly lit warehouse once. When we finished
they cut off 2/3 of the lighting and it was still almost twice as
bright in the space. If you can't paint it white cover it with
white materials.

Well I've got 10 of them, 7 for the shop and 3 for the upstairs of my
garage. They've got to be better than the crap I have now and are 1/2 price
of what Lowes wanted for a Utilitech brand. Now to put them in the way so I
see them all the time. That’s about the only way I will get them installed!
