Ralph, I have a Kohler that likes to eat solenoids as well. After I had 
to pull the tractor apart to replace it twice I grabbed a common Ford 
style solenoid and wired that in up next to the battery. Moved the lower 
end of the cable so the solenoid there wasn't doing anything.
