I spent the day working on the 110b Cat trackhoe installing a new
starter solenoid. Finally got it on after about 3 hours of finding the
right tool. The mounting screws were Phillips and the softest thing I
had ever encountered. Hunted up my old Impact driver I used when I
worked on Motorcycles. It worked like a charm and I replaced them with
bolts. Luckily I keep some metric bolts handy.. It works now and I
don't have to raise dthe hood and lay down on the counterweight to short
the solenoid to start.
Now that the ice has melted, we have a bunch of trees that are falling
on the fence. Trackhoe will push them off and also break the tree off.
The ground is soft enough that I can pull a lot of trees up from the
roots and pile them up. Trying to clear at least a 20 ft path next to
the fence so we can replace it. There must be a cedar or Hackberry or
Bois D'arc every 6 feet in the fence row. worked about an hour and got
about 150 ft cleared... 15 ton machine can clear a fair sized tree.
Not an antique tractor, but an antique by Caterpillar standards.
