Dean,

A very nice and well deserved tribute I'm sure. Unfortunately, I haven't been to the TRI State in
Portland show or the Half Century of Progress show in IL.
Both seem to be unusually large shows. Have I correctly observed that both these shows are on the
same wekend? Does that occur evey year on the same wekend? That is a bit unusual isn't it? Is that
deliberate or just cooincidental?

My wife and I made a brief trip over to the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor
Show in Portland, Indiana, this past Friday, squeezed in between family
obligations on the one end and veterinary appointments on the other, and as
always it was a wonderful show and we were wishing for more time, lots more.
A few nights earlier I'd had the pleasure of meeting Chuck Bealke and his
wife Shirley, who'd made the trip all the way up from Texas and were heading
to Portland the following day. I don't remember when I first exchanged
emails or ATIS posts with Chuck, but it's been many a moon--and this was the
first opportunity to meet in person. I'm grateful to the list and to the
Portland show for providing the avenue for such things.

And, most especially, to the many people who spend their time and energy and
no doubt a fair sum of money making shows like Portland possible. Gene
Dotson and Steve Sewell come first to mind, year after year, and there are
many many more I haven't happened to meet. What a contribution those folks
make!
