[AT] OFF Topic: 4 month Verizon WAR

In my message below I should have mentioned a couple of things
that I forgot. First I'm not trying to promote Republic Wireless I
just like them. And second, for Republic to work and have those
low prices, they depend on WIFI which the phone defaults to when
it can so if you don't have reliable internet at your home or work
Republic really won't work to well for you. When not on WIFI it runs
on Sprint Cellular.

I found the same thing to be true for the nearly 20 years I was
on US Cellular. The local store couldn't help you tie your shoes
and if they did you had to wait in line for an hour behind a bunch
of idiots that couldn't figure out how to dial their phone. Call the
800 number and they fixed your problem right away.

I use Republic Wireless for cell phone now. Unlimited data, voice and text
in 3G for $30 a month or 4G for $40 a month. I use the 3 G because
there just isn't that much 4 G coverage here. Unfortunately, they are a
young company and don't offer cell based internet... yet. Their cell
service
is flawless except that it has slightly more dead spots than US Cellular and
Verizon (in my area) but most of those spots are in very remote areas and
the
savings is well worth that small inconvenience.

I had similar problems with the local Verizon. Instead of helping you
solve your problem they seem to want to get in your way. I decided I
didn't want to work with the local Verizon and called the 800 number.
Difference was night and day. They bend over backwards to be sure you
are satisfied. The local guys wouldn't synchronize my different plans
because they were several months apart. 800 did it without question.
When you get a new phone they send it next day and preloaded with all
your apps and contacts and even follow up to be sure you got it and
everything is working fine.
