Jordanville is just up the road from me... I'm down in Starkville
currently...

The plateau is full of rocks. The place I'm at now has plenty. When I
dug the holes for the posts to support the deck I found more than a few.
Dug down 4' in each hole, except the one that is on the southwest
corner. That one is only 2' down. I dug and hit a stone, started to dig
around it and it just kept getting bigger and deeper, Decided that it
was just fine where it was, filled it back in, set the post on it and it
hasn't moved in 25 years!

Funny you mention potatoes, We grew a large plot in a different spot for
those, The first year hilling and then digging them was a chore. My
uncle found an old digger and rebuilt it. Dad discovered that it also
worked to shake out more rocks to pick.....

Sadly the drive in is gone. There are only a few left now.
