[AT] Hearing aids

I did a stupid thing and really knocked out the hearing in my right ear. After going to the MD and ear specialist it became apparent it was not coming back. I went to a local Audiologist for a free screening after a test he fitted me with a pair for a trial of 2 weeks I was not expecting this when I went in. What world of difference. When I went back I got the bad news $5000 I gave them back and said thanks but I could not afford that. Talking to friends who have them they had purchased from Costco. Wife and I went in for screening and testing. Very thorough same as Audiologist. We both ended up with them. $1800 each pair. Excellent warranties free service as needed.
As for someone setting up their own aids I don't see how that is possible after the service and setup we went through. They actually measure the sound in your ear canal with the aids in. The aids have different bands like an equalizer which are adjusted up and down depending on your frequency loss. These are not just sound amplifiers.

I know this list is filled with FATG who have played with loud engines
and tools and have hearing problems. I am one of those and am now
looking for a new set of hearing aids, my current ones are over five
years old and one has failed. I am looking for recommendations brands
and models, what should I look for in a new set?.
