Years ago we had a small on farm bottling plant across from the country school I went to. If they were running late we would take the milk crate across the road and get the schools milk. The cooler they had was milk running over the tubes and it was in the open, not behind glass or a door. As has been said, there may have been both kinds. Greg Hass
