John, beware smart phone flashlights. If it came installed on your phone
it's probably ok but if you downloaded it from the App store many of them
are actually grabbing and using your meta data and maybe pictures, etc.
Check to see what permissions it asks for.

The older I get, the more flashlights I own. I'm either getting smarter or
my vision worse, maybe a little of both.
The one thing I have not seen mentioned yet is the flashlight on
smartphones. After my industrial grade Motorola flip phone died, I decided
to get with the program and get a smartphone. It was a bit humbling to have
my 12 year old teach me how to use it. The one thing I use way more often
than I ever figured I would is the flashlight. Last year I would keep a
cheap flashlight in my coat pocket when picking corn so I could see how to
get from the combine to the truck without breaking my neck over cornstalks.
This year I just used my phone, its much better than a cheap light and one
less thing to carry. It's also plenty bright enough to use for an end of the
day inspection of the combine--I always look for anything broken, leaking or
check for anything hot.

I agree in many respects with Ken. A quality flashlight is a TOOL. I
don't like crappy tools. And if you develop the habit of carrying a
flashlight routinely, you'll soon wonder how you ever got along without.
