Why is the gov't telling us what to use? Because GE lobbied them to do so. 
What did GE have to gain? A new product for which they can charge more. New 
factories needed to produce the new bulbs gave them a great excuse to build 
those new factories in China. Free market indeed.

That's fine Steve but my point is that we don't need the government
telling us what to use.  Let the free market handle that.  If the CFL's and
LED's are better the incandescent bulb will die of natural causes.
