On my 55 Deere combine you can certainly tell if its 40 deg outside, it
takes muscle to move the steering wheel. After it warms up, everything works
like it does in 90 deg weather.

We (excavation company in Michigan) warm up the engine a few minutes and
then slowly work the hydraulics so not to shock the cylinders. The same is
true of all moving objects, ease into them to warm them up. All the oils
are cold and nothing is flowing correctly at first in any gearbox or system.
