NO good deed goes unpunished Cecil. That seems to be the way of the world.
It's amazing how folks will take advantage and then be unwilling to return
the favor.

Charlie:
I know what you mean about being the last one to find out about a good deal.
  I have a friend who bought a 1958 D6 8U Cat for $800 a couple of years
ago. It only had about 1500 hours on it and was used mainly as a winch
driver on an oilfield pulling unit. It had been in a barn for a
decade. I helped him get it out of the barn and running and hauled it
home and wherever he needed it. He had some back surgery and was
thinking about selling it. He promised me several times that I would
get first chance on it if he ever decided to sell it. I have hauled
equipment for him for free as we trade labor and I have the machinery
and he does not. Last month I asked him about the dozer and he said he
sold it for $10,500 to some farmer about 80 miles west of here. I
would have bought it even though that is expensive for a machine that is
56 years old. For some reason I just do not really care to help him
very much now.......... I am glad you got someone to let you have a
good deal.
