[AT] OT - Windows XP

Ralph, I have 2 computers that still run XP, one in my basement shop,
and one in my outdoor shop. I use them to store PDF's of repair manuals
on. I don't have concerns about using them because I don't use them for
any type of e-commerce, like internet banking or purchases. I think the
concern with the discontinuation of patches from Microsoft is that when
a vulnerability becomes known, there will not be a patch written for it.
What I'm wondering is whether 3rd party security software (anti-virus,
anti-malware) can overcome those security holes. If he doesn't need to
spend $500-600 on a new computer that would be great, because the one
they have works just fine for them.
