That's right Mike. My grandfather harvested ice on the irrigation lake that bordered the farm in Colorado, and packed it in sawdust to insulate it and keep it from melting too fast.  Dad remembered having ice cream in the middle of summer that came from that ice. The ice house was still there when I started visiting  the place after WWII, but it got torn down when my aunt and uncle needed space for a new farm house in the early 60's.
